Video Capture Software

The Video Capture Software module adds the functionality of full frame rate video capture of the VivaScope® confocal scan. Video captures are stored to the hard drive in AVI movie format. Use of an industry-standard video format allows the user to view and manipulate the captures outside the VivaScope® application, thus allowing for distribution of video data to colleagues and other investigators or incorporation of the data into presentations or promotional materials.

The video capture feature is easy to use. When the VivaScope is actively scanning, three video recording screen controls are visible in the control area of the application software. To begin capturing a video clip, simply click the Record button. To pause video capture, click the Pause Capture button. To continue capturing video, simply click the Pause button again. Finally, you can discontinue capturing video by clicking the Stop Capture button. The video stream can be captured regardless of changes to depth, XY coordinates, or laser power.

AICPlayback is equally simple. Video clips can be viewed within the application software in the same manner as any other captured image or collection. Once you have loaded the Movies collection, simply click on the thumbnail image you wish to view and the movie will begin to play, as illustrated at left.

The playback buttons in the lower right allow full control of video playback. Using these controls, you can pause, play, step “slow” forward and backward (one frame at a time), or skip ahead or behind several frames at once by using the Fast Forward and Fast Rewind buttons. Each individual frame of the video is labeled with position, depth, and laser power information, as shown above, and can be exported to bitmap format using the Export Frame button.
